Let’s Face It

Gallery

A couple of weeks ago my friend Tony Quiros called me and told me about this amazing new skincare center located very close to where I live.

He had mentioned to them about my beauty content and they invited me in for a facial.

Now, fun fact. I’ve never had a facial! And I wasn’t sure what to expect.

It was such a terrific experience and I’d like to share it.

After check in I was guided into a room where they scanned my face.

Each scan highlighted difference things about my skin.

They analyze and determine what type of services are needed.

Then off to the next room where I laid on a massaging table and also enjoyed a shoulder, neck, arm and hand massage from Geraldine Tarazona.

She is the CEO – Lead Esthetician, Doctor specialized in aesthetic medicine and rejuvenation

Each treatment includes:

-Welcome aromatherapy

-Cleansing

-Exfoliation

-Extraction as needed

-Pore sealing

-Intensive hydration

-Microdermabrasion (Optional)

-Sunscreen protection

“For facials, we use phytocosmetic products that harness the power of plants for their medicinal and cosmetic properties, supported by pharmacological studies, demonstrating their effectiveness on the skin, combined with dermocosmetic products.”

From the reception area to the waiting area there’s such a zen vibe.

Every step was described to me before it was performed so I knew what to expect.

I left with my skin feeling like it’s never felt before.

Prices are very reasonable with $130 for a 60 minute session and $160 for 90 minutes.

They’re located at 1819 Sardis Rd N Ste 360, Charlotte, NC 28270.

Give them a call to schedule a visit. Their number is (980) 800-4976 .

Your face will thank you for it!

New York Fashion Week: 2024

Gallery

Next to the September issue of Vogue, scouring the internet for pictures of NYFW Fall shows means Autumn has begun to me.

Fall fashion is my FAVORITE!

Here are some of my favorite looks from the week.

Thom Browne:

Structured black and white looks give a nod to the ‘40s and ‘50s.

Christian Siriano:

If you know me at all you know of my love for this designer. Meeting and interviewing him was one of the highlights of my fashion career.

Elegant, muted earth tones dominate his latest collection.

Michael Kors:

More ‘40s and ‘50s inspired classics.

Structure paired with romantic lace pieces dotted the runway.

I cannot wait for cooler weather and fall outfits and I plan to gain inspiration from these pieces.

Heathers: A Fashion Statement

Gallery

Ah Heathers…

The classic ‘80s mean girl movie.

Where teen angst comes with a body count.

But, oh the fashion statements!

Heathers is full of trendy 1980s schoolgirl outfits. Preppy plaid, structured blazers, pleated skirts, and colored tights.

The costume designs also heavily feature signature colors.

Each ‘Heather’ has one color that is featured predominately in every outfit.

The main colors used are red (Heather Chandler) which stands for the power she holds in the school, green (Heather Duke) that symbolizes her envy for Heather Chandler, yellow (Heather McNamara) for her timid nature compared to the other two, blue (Veronica Sawyer) for her true blue personality.

These colors are established at the very start of the film during a croquet match to show the dynamics of each character and continue throughout the film.

Heather Chandler:

The head Heather wears a checked jacket which boasts huge Dynasty worthy shoulder pads, while Veronica’s are slightly smaller. This shows her dominance over Veronica, the Heathers and the entire school.

Her loud jacket communicates her authority.

Her red scrunchie and skirt is the symbol of her leadership status, as she states during a croquet match “I’m always red.”

Heather Duke:

In the opening  scene we see Duke wearing a printed green(for envy) skirt and cardigan, with a printed white shirt underneath.

Her accessories often include Mary Janes, a popular preppy choice at the time, with a golden and an ornate black brooch on her collar.

After Heather Chandlers ‘suicide’ she starts sporting her signature red scrunchy.

She takes the color red as her own.

Her final look shows her in a red cropped overcoat over a printed red button-up.

Heather McNamara:

Perhaps she wore yellow to represent her fears. She was the weakest and meekest of the Heathers. Heather McNamara was cautious and had a timid nature.

She even tried to OD on yellow pills in the school bathroom.

Veronica:

Dear Diary, Winona Ryder, the queen of quirk, portrayed the only non Heather perfectly.

Was she the only non Heather in the group. Or was she the most ‘Heather’ Heather of them all?

She maintained her true blue nature to the end.

She donned the ominous red scrunchy and declared ‘Heather my love, there’s a new Sheriff in town!’

From (red) Heather Chandler drinking a ‘blue’ colored poison, to (green) Heather Duke announcing to be ‘red’ in croquet and finally (blue) Veronica snatching the oversized red scrunchie, we observe how the power dynamic shifts solely through color personality.

The directors and costume designers did a great job of using colors in the power play with the characters.

Fall Trends 2024

Gallery

I’m desperately trying to manifest cooler weather with my Fall Fashion posts.

This week I’m bringing 5 trends I’m excited about for the upcoming season.

1) Ox blood

I’m seeing shades of deep red that range from burgundy to a dark rusted copper.

One of this seasons hottest color has been dubbed Black Cherry.

2)Leather

Leather, both real or faux, takes center stage, offering a timeless allure that transcends season.

Dresses, blazers and pants are trending for next season.

3) Skinny Jeans

There has been a resurgence of skinny jeans!

Skinny jeans took the fashion world by storm in the early 2000s, becoming a symbol of modernity and versatility

Love them or hate them, they’re back! Ready to be topped by everything from blazers to oversized sweaters.

4)Denim on Denim

While it’s often credited to the 90s, it was actually the 70s and 80s which saw a rise in the Canadian Tuxedo looks.

I, myself, was known to mix a dark denim jacket with acid washed jeans back in the day.

5) Mary Janes

There are some really fun versions of the Mary Janes currently on the market.

This nostalgic, unapologetically feminine shoe is my favorite trend for this coming Fall.

Fun, sassy and an almost innocent vibe can be had from this style.

What’s your favorite item you’re looking forward to wearing as soon as the temperatures drop??

Fall is coming!!

Not soon enough for me!

I love fall weather and fall fashion.

Here’s my top five picks for bags trending this year.

1.Dark Cherry and shades of green:

Not your mother’s burgundy.

Ferragamo, JW Anderson, Fendi, and Gucci, among many other labels who showed dark cherry accessories for autumn.

From split pea to neon, you’ll be green with envy over these bags.

2. Studded bags:

Khaite and Mango have some fun options

Metal studs give these bags an edgy vibe.

3. Crescent bags

An updated version of the hobo and baguette bag, this style is casual and can carry a lot of stuff!

These versions from Free People and Tori Burch are great options.

This Michael Kors bag is on my radar for the upcoming season.

4. Unique Straps

Exaggerated straps are becoming one of the seasons most unexpected bag trends.

A fun conversation starter that can transform any outfit!

5. Bucket Bags

This bag never really goes away. It’s structured and holds so much!

The heat is subsiding a bit. The sun is going in for the evening just a little earlier each day, and the fashion magazines are hitting the stand with fall fashions.

It’s time to start checking out Fall Bags!

A Girls Best Friend

Belk at Southpark Mall hosted an Effy Jewelry Trunk Show this week and invited me to come see the bling!

Effy Reps Ethan Hak and Sami Doganay brought the best of the best from their New York store to Charlotte.

They were a ton of fun and filled me in on the history of this accidental jewelry designer.

Effy Hematian was an electrical engineer by trade.

He founded Effy Jewelry in 1979 after emigrating from Iran to New York City in 1978.

He was used to drawing blueprints at work. After visiting a jewelry store with his wife he was intrigued by the designs.

He started sketching and eventually created a sapphire set for his wife.

Everyone admired her jewelry so much they started wanting pieces of their own.

Hematian started selling jewelry out of a suitcase and built a jewelry empire over 44 years. He was known for his bold, stylish designs that incorporated vivid gemstones and meticulous craftsmanship.

He eventually was granted a very small section of a display at Macy’s in Herald Square.

Eventually they gave him more and more space until he branched out into other department stores.

Effy jewelry headquarters is in New York City. You can visit and see that all of its jewelry is creatively designed and beautifully crafted right here in the U.S.

In the gem-sorting room, specially trained employees sort through bin after bin of colored gemstones.

Today, Effy operates over 2900 retail stores across North America including 125 Effy boutiques on board cruise ships.

My favorite piece was this pink and white diamond ring!!!

Thank you to the Effy Jewelry manger Jason Barker and his beautiful Effy Angels for a fun, sparkly event!!

Express Yourself!

Gallery

I had been saving this Express Portofino blouse to style.

Earlier this summer I finally had the chance to show it off.

I played on all the vibrant colors and came up with an outfit that wowed everyone!

I pulled the orange out with my Target skirt and Michael Kors bag.

My Target shoes, Walmart tank and Michael Kors watch brought out the pink in the top.

I added my gold Versace Cuban chain and my gold and purple Versace glasses to pull out the purple.

I tied the top at my waist and kept the buttons undone to show off the pink tank.

This is one of my favorite outfits! I looked good and felt good!

I’m going restyle it later this year for a Fall outfit!

Ready To Flamingle: Summer Seen by Charlotte Seen

Gallery

I was soooo excited about the Charlotte Seen, Let’s Flamingle Summer Seen Show!

Flamingos are my spirit animals!

Summer outfits flooded the runways!

Preppy looks never go out of style!

There were several sexy separates, perfect for summer soirées.

Flirty, flowing dresses keep you cool during the rising temps.

Bright citrus shades dominated.

A few of the kids were being NAUTey on the runway. Nautical pieces are a staple during the summer months.

No Flamingle would be complete without pops of PINK!!!!

Beach Please: Summer Seen Fashion Show

Charlotte Seen held its annual Summer Seen Fashion Show last weekend in historic downtown Gastonia .

The weather was great for the most part.

Guests explored the town, ate and shopped before and after the shows.

Inside the models were walking on sunshine as they hit the runway in their most fabulous bathing suits and coverups!

Mayor Richard Franks cut the ribbon kicking off each show.

There were some Red Hot looks.

Lots of Cool Blue Poolside attire.

Fun, flirty coverups make for a family friendly beach trip.

I adored this look.

The pale blue floral Gucci scarf coordinated nicely with the blue metallic two piece bikini.

Black and white suits gave the models an edgy look.

I especially loved this OG Barbie look.

The ornate design on this one will turn some heads on the beach.

It was the Pink that stole the show.

These looks brought home the theme ‘Let’s Flamingle.’

And Flamingle we did!!!

Don’t miss Charlotte Seen Charlotte Fashion Week coming up in September!

Face it, that little blue box brings you joy.

It inspired this weeks outfit!

I started with this gorgeous Michael Kors bag with silver hardware.

I added this Target dress is the same color range.

Along with a pair of crystal sandals from DSW.

Anyone who thinks a handbag can’t bring you joy is wrong. This one is such a happy color and I love styling it!
