Breakfast At…The Beach??

Pixton Design Group hit the Charlotte Seen runway last week in what can only be described as Breakfast At Tiffany’s meets Swim Week.

Pixton is known for her custom luxury resort wear and I was accustomed to seeing her luxe bikinis.

As a matter of fact, I had been back of house prior to the show and caught a glimpse of some of her pieces.

However, I was not prepared for this presentation.

The first model came out à la Holly Golightly, sporting dark sunglasses, pearls, black opera gloves, a tiara and a fur wrap.

I knew an iconic moment was about to happen.

As Model Virginia Penland stopped on point at the end of the runway, she dropped the fur exposing a black velvet bikini.

It was truly one of the best runway moments I’ve ever witnessed.

It didn’t stop there.

Pearls and velvet were prevalent in the first few models.

Each model with their signature Holly look.

The colors suddenly shifted.

Models donned bikinis and coverups in the signature Tiffany Blue color.

White bows accessorized some pieces, paying homage to that little blue box we all covet.

This was one of my all time favorite Charlotte Seen runway shows.

If you want to bring back the Old Hollywood vibe you will love one of these custom pieces.

Pixton Design Group services are available for swimwear, activewear, dancewear, costumes and resort.

A-part[meant] Hunting

Gallery

I’ve never experienced ‘shopping’ like this before.

Angel and Deanna Sargent invite you into their cozy, intimate A-part[meant].

Formally Roam and Dwell, the Sargents decided once they moved to their current location, a name change was a must. It fits the vibe more.

It’s like apartment life meets fashion, decor and art.

This boutique is designed to feel like you’re visiting someone’s home.

Classic, yet unique, clothing options great you when you enter thru the intricately carved arch.

Work from featured artists line the walls.

An intimate ‘living room’ is in the back of the ‘apartment’.

Guests are offered coffee or cocktails while they admire knick knacks that were perhaps collected during the hosts travels.

Jazz plays at a soothing level while conversations flow.

If you’re looking for shopping that’s more of an experience, then look no further. You are ‘meant’ to be here.

The End Of A Fashion Era: Anna Wintour Steps Down

Gallery

On June 26th, after 37 years, Anna Wintour announced she is stepping down as editor-in-chief of Vogue.

Anna’s first Vogue cover

The British-American fashion icon began her career as an editorial assistant at London’s Harpers & Queen magazine. She worked her way up, landing editorial roles at Harper’s Bazaar and Viva in the 70’s.

As editor of Vogue, she has held the role for longer than any of her predecessors.

Wintour transformed Vogue into a powerhouse among fashion magazines.

She was the first editor to mix affordable fashion with designer clothes in photoshoots.

Wintour took over the Met Gala in 1995, transforming it from a local fundraiser into a highly anticipated, fashion event.

“Florals?? For Spring?? Groundbreaking…”

Yes, Wintour was the inspiration for Miranda Priestly from  The Devil Wears Prada.

Here are some of my favorite Wintour fashion moments.

I adore her early looks!

Three things have remained consistent through the years. The Bob, sunglasses in the front row, and style!

So does this mean she’s given up fashion forever??

No way. She will remain as the magazine’s global editorial director as well as the company’s chief content officer.

Sew Charming

Last weekend I had the honor of meeting and interviewing Southern Charm star Craig Conover.

He was at Belk in Southpark Mall to launch his new collab.

His brand Sewing Down South and Belk’s in house brand Crown & Ivy recently partnered up to bring us all things southern.

From clothing to home decor, Craig left his mark on them all.

Based in Charleston, his designs are full of pineapples, beach themes and nautical flares.

How did a personal injury lawyer become a designer?

Craig told his story from moving to Charleston for college to getting cast in the realty show Southern Charm.

He channels his excessive energy into creativity.

Starting with pillows, he has now expanded to an entire collection in his flagship store on King Street and location in Nashville.

When he’s not filming or sewing, Craig enjoys farming, and recently has took up beekeeping.

This super busy young man always makes time for his precious mama.

I asked him “Have you noticed a trend of other parts of the country adopting our style and decor as a way of finding a calmer more peaceful lifestyle.”

He responded “Yeah, I think that’s, like I’m going to steal that from you. Our brand is Coastal Chic. It’s just based on places I’ve lived and spent time in. I grew up on the Eastern shore of Delaware, then moved to Charleston and spent time in the Bahamas so you know what I’ve been trying to do is develop items for the rest of the country that might not fit that style but it doesn’t matter, anywhere we go in the country, someone has our stuff and they all love this line.

He went on to add “I think maybe it’s exactly like you said. It’s just, even if you don’t live in the beach with kind of that coastal relaxed style, I think the colors always bring people peace. When I was in New York, there was not alot of color. But down South, there is.”

He finished up by telling me “We are trending. The colors of the year are all comfort colors. Cozy earth tones. What used to be seen as a lazy color is now sophisticated and calming. So the calming, earth tones are in.”

He told me “I love the colors and I always will. I have started seeing it in other places. I’m always surprised that people decorate with some of our original patterns around the country and I think it’s the same with our clothes.”

Craig is such a charmer! And I appreciate him taking time to talk to me about his brand.

One of his most well known lines from the show is “What’s wrong with my sewing?”

I can answer that…Absolutely nothing!
